How my journey began, and where it’s at.

My name is Chloe Lane Dettloff Ramirez, but you know me as Chloe Lane.

I have been cooking on my own since I was 8 years old. My parents felt the same when they saw me in the kitchen, leaning over the stove making a French Omelet at 6am one day. It was their Anniversary, and I wanted to surprise the early birds (hence the 6am), with a nice breakfast. They never taught me how to make a French Omelet, but Ina Garten did. I was mildly obsessed with Food Network, and of course- Ina Garten’s Barefoot Contessa. The day prior I watched how to make the Omelet. And the next day- recreated it perfectly. My mother is certified and fully trained in the culinary arts, and even awarded. She said it was a perfect French Omelet. (Not to just be nice by the way). From then on, she taught me everything she knew, and is still teaching me. But ultimately, culinary arts became my passion. Anything food, and I was interested immediately. I’m a certified private chef now.

This takes us to 2016, I was 15. When I started a cute little food blog, called Sweet and Savory Lane. Posting little pictures here and there, a fun hobby for a 15 year old.

Then 2020, I hadn’t touched my blog or Instagram, in years. I cooked, and baked everything all the time but did not have a path. Well when you’re 19 and locked in, unhappy with where you’re at in life… Mom and Dad had a great idea to pursue what I had once created. Happy again, doing what I love.

2021, I am an established LLC in the state of Michigan. On the path of making this a fully functioning business.

2022, a certified private chef, farmer market pro, and zoom teacher (and married). I had been working day and night to turn this into something I would be proud of one day.

2023, I was doing small events here and there, adapting to married life and the changing of day jobs- this brings me to 2024.

With the constant love and support from my family, and closest friends, we have gotten to this point. There’s been bumps, but what interesting story is smooth? Hopefully you will stick around to see what happens, and keep supporting a kid who upgraded her easy bake oven. Thanks for reading a portion of my life. I hope to see you in your kitchen, or even enjoying one of my delights.

Thank you to all who have been continuously supporting Sweet and Savory Lane.

I love you all. :)
